Red flags
- A buyer or seller sends only a screenshot of a payment instead of an official transaction reference. You are asked to screenshot and forward a one time password or verification code to "confirm" something. A contact shares fake booking receipts, refund proofs, or review screenshots to pressure you into sending money or releasing goods
What to do
- 1Verify any payment or booking directly in your bank app or with the service provider using an official reference number. Never share verification codes, OTP screenshots, or login screens with anyone, no matter how plausible the request. Use in app escrow or tracked shipping on marketplace deals, and reverse image search suspicious screenshots before trusting
